Position Status: Seasonal Contract, Full time
Terms: February – November 2025
(Fulltime, 5 shifts a week, must be flexible)
Opportunity for casual shifts December 2025 – February 2026
Reports To: Food Services Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C
  • Food Safe level 1
  • WHIMIS Certification an asset
  • Significant experience working in a kitchen, preferably a camp environment
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
  • Strong knowledge of allergies and dietary restriction safety and management
  • Strong camp cooking knowledge/ eagerness to learn the Y way
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to lead a staff team of up to 13 people at any given time
Responsibilities
  • Preparation and cooking for high volumes of guests ensuring meals are served on time
  • Leading the preparation, cooking and service for high volumes of guests in a timely matter.
  • Following proper procedures for cooking and handling food according to food safe, health, and Food Service Managers regulations.
  • Have a vast knowledge of how to cook for guests with allergies and dietary restrictions. As well as train/share knowledge for others to safely prepare dietary foods
  • Maintaining an organized, clean, safe, healthy, and fun kitchen space for people to thrive in
  • Making sure weekly and daily cleaning tasks and checklists are up to date and completed by the kitchen team
  • Being able to share/take on responsivities of the Food Services Supervisor on their time off/ absence as well as continuing with regular day to day routine in a timely manor
  • Assisting the Food Services Supervisor with scheduling, supply inventory, and supply orders as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Food Services Director
