PERMANENT FULL-TIME POSITION IN NORTH VANCOUVER(Onsite) CLOSES:  Open Until Filled BE PART OF SOMETHING MEANINGFUL!  Join the Estx̱wáy̓usem Finance Department as an Accounts Payable Technician (Senior Role). This position plays a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity of the Squamish Nation Government by ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments, compliance with policies, and strong financial recordkeeping. As a key member of the Finance team, you’ll help strengthen accountability, efficiency, and transparency in financial operations while supporting the Nation’s departments in achieving their goals. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Process daily and weekly payments including cheque requisitions, invoices, and reimbursements. * Review and verify payment requisitions for mathematical accuracy, correct general ledger coding, and approvals. * Conduct three-way matching of purchase orders, receipts, and invoices through the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) system. * Assist with training for new Accounts Payable Technicians and support P2P system users. * Process specialized payments such as Distributions in Trust, education, cultural, and program-related disbursements.  * Maintain complete and accurate accounts payable files—filing, retrieving, and updating as required. * Respond promptly to inquiries from internal stakeholders and vendors, providing excellent service and clear communication. * Support monthly closings, reconciliations, and analysis of accounts. * Ensure compliance with Squamish Nation financial policies and procedures, reporting any non-compliance issues to the supervisor. * Contribute cooperatively to the Finance team to achieve departmental goals. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * Completion of Grade 12; a certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or Financial Management is an asset. * At least 12 months of related experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or financial administration. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with large-scale financial databases (JD Edwards experience is an asset). * Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills. * High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and document handling. * Professional communication style with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. * Ability to work respectfully and effectively within a team environment. * Cultural humility and respect for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh values, sovereignty, and self-determination. * Demonstrates extensive knowledge of, and strong connection to, the Squamish community.
