The Aerospike Database Reliability Engineer will:

  • Be responsible for administration and maintenance of Aerospike NoSQL database
  • Perform database upgrades, OS patching, performance tuning and support activities
  • Create scripts to automate database maintenance and administration tasks.
  • Understand upcoming database features and provide guidance to the application teams
  • Benchmarking new features and their impact to the application availability and performance
  • Participate in database capacity planning activities for new application features.
  • Review application database design and provide critical feedback
  • Identify opportunities to build innovative tools and solve unique operations problems on a large enterprise and mission critical applications
  • Aerospike in the cloud setup in Kubernetes cluster

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-6 years of experience with administration and support of Enterprise NoSQL databases like Aerospike, mongo.
  • 4-6 years of experience in writing automation scripts, building application dashboards for proactive monitoring, setting up Alerts for early determination of the issues
  • Working experience with Schwab processes and systems
  • In depth knowledge of database concepts, replication strategies and high availability architectures
  • Experience with database backup and recovery, patching, upgrades, performance tuning activitiesFamiliarity with Linux system administration, troubleshooting, and tuning
  • Development experience in one or more or programming languages such as .Net, Java, Powershell, Python, and Bash
  • Working knowledge of logging aggregation tools such as Splunk, promethus, grafana or similar tools
  • Previous experience in GitHub and harness
  • Previous experience in using SALT or Ansible for automation of operational database tasks

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Financial services industry experience
  • Experience with cloud providers like GCP, AWS
  • Agile methodologies
  • Strong customer orientation with an affinity to proactively own, communicate, and follow-through projects and issues
  • Extreme sense of ownership to resolve problems in a distributed environment
  • Gritty resolve to dig deeper into technical issues in a complex eco-system
  • A self-starter with the ability and confidence to independently resolve issues and bring results back to the team
