JOB SUMMARY:

The Information and Technology Services (ITS) organization at the University of Michigan has an exciting opportunity for an Application Development Manager, responsible for Human Capital Management (HCM) product development. Our systems and solutions deliver to a wide-cross section of customers including faculty, staff, students, retirees and campus administrators. Human Capital Management products and services provide enterprise solutions for Recruiting, Core HR, Payroll, Time and Labor, Benefits, and employee development training systems.
We are looking for a candidate who will contribute to the innovative strategic technical direction of HCM products and services. In addition to technical leadership and strategy, you will also manage a team of application developers. You will report directly to the Assistant Director, HCM Systems.
This position is eligible for hybrid or onsite work modes, that are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes here .

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8 years of experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft infrastructure including Application, Web and Database servers and experience troubleshooting errors in each
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or similar development methodologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of database management systems (i.e., Linux, SQL Server, Oracle)

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with HCM product managers to develop, champion and oversee a technology development strategy that aligns with our requirements and priorities within the university’s ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with other ITS divisions to manage technical infrastructure and the production application environment.
  • Supervise team of application developers in the setting and execution of HCM vision and strategy, and in the development of new components and customizations.
  • Mentor staff on PeopleSoft technologies including Application Designer, SQR, PeopleCode, Integration Broker and Application Engine.
  • Use your in-depth PeopleSoft expertise to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to software and application and integration development, including release management, tools, architecture, and methodologies.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technology developments and modern software development methodologies.
