Artificial Insemination Technicians

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking experienced Artificial Insemination Technicians to join our reproduction team at AFMH. As a member of the Livestock team this full-time, hands on role will have you using technical skills with all aspects of reproduction and breeding. Using tail chalk as a tool for heat detection, our Artificial Insemination Technicians have an integral role in our advanced genetic program and require skills in artificial insemination, pregnancy detection and delivery of synchronisation programs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:

• Participate in all aspects of herd reproduction, including A.I., heat detection & synchronisation programs
• Pregnancy diagnosis & ovary palpation
• Collection and collation of data to research, develop and advise on positive improvements for the herd, breeding programs and fertility.
• Inspection of livestock to ensure feed formula is aligned to age and reproductive status, to achieve AFMH heifer growth and development targets.
• Measure and monitor weight and body condition score of heifers, ensuring information is collected and data is entered into Dairy Comp 305 to monitor growth rates and feed formula performance.
• Participate with movements of animals between feed formulas at relevant times
• Arranging and delivering drugs and vaccines for livestock and ensure protocols are followed for useParticipate in weekly team meetings and discuss young stock metrics and management techniques to improve outcomes.
