This role is based in our facility in Ballinasloe, Co . Galway and offers a 4 day condensed working week, inclusive of Monday to Thursday. Fixed term Temporary contract. Job Summary The Accounts Assistant will report to the Accounting Manager with responsibility for providing efficient & effective management information to enhance decision making and maintain the accounts payable & financial accounting assistance function. Responsibilities Accounts Payable (AP): Review, code, and process supplier invoices, matching them with purchase orders and goods receipt notes. Process employee credit card & out of pocket expenses (Concur system) Ensure compliance with spending approval process. Schedule and execute payments via uploads from the ERP system to the Bank, ensuring timely disbursements. Reconcile supplier statements to maintain accurate balances. Resolve invoice queries with suppliers. General Accounting & Administration: Reconcile AP & GRN sub-ledgers to the general ledger. Reconcile bank balances to the general ledger. Maintain schedule of prepayments. Maintain intercompany reconciliations. Assist in month-end and quarter close processes. Assist in audit preparation & queries for relevant areas. Complete Vat/VIES/Intrastat returns and customs compliance. Complete CSO returns. Perform ad hoc duties as required. Experience and Qualifications Experience: Previous experience in accounting, specifically in AP roles. Software Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems or accounting software and MS Excel. Technical Knowledge: Understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP) and financial controls environment. Attributes: High level of accuracy, attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills.
