JOB TITLE:                       Assistant Manager –Aquatic Center   DEPARTMENT:             Parks and Recreation – Recreation   FLSA STATUS:                Non-Exempt HOURLY RATE:             $17.75-$18.25/Hr     POSITION SUMMARY: Monitor and supervise pool facilities, operations and staff while promoting enthusiasm and making the pool a safe and fun place for the community.     ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES   * Assisting customers * Respond to public inquiries, concerns, and complaints to resolve and improve services * General cleaning and daily maintenance of pool facilities and locker rooms * Daily checking and balancing pool chemicals * Monitoring use of supplies & inventory * Overseeing swim lessons and public swimming * Patrolling and enforcing facility rules * Handle opening and closing procedures opening and closing register, balancing receipts, and making daily deposits * Oversee and instruct swim lessons * Monitoring and supervising staff including scheduling, time sheets, staff meetings, training, discipline, evaluations and more. * other duties as assigned within the scope of the position to benefit the O'Fallon Parks & Recreation Department.     KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILTIES * Ability to work in a team environment.  * Ability to understand and follow oral &/or written instructions.  * Ability to express maturity in thought, work habits and responsibility.  * Ability to establish and maintain effective & courteous working relationships with youth, their parents, other park staff, community organization partners and the public.  * Ability to act as a role model for young children.  * Ability to safely operate large vehicles in high traffic areas, interstates, country roads, and city roads.    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Must be able to work long hours in outdoor, especially summer temperatures * Must be able to stand, sit, kneel, or squat for long periods of time * Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds * Ability to use close and long-distance vision and adjust between the two * Running related to the job duties will be occasionally necessary * Ability to communicate effectively, included but not limited to speaking, directing, and listening.   MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES * High school diploma or equivalent. * American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) advanced certification. * Current certification in (or ability to achieve) First Aid & CPR. * Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing (English) * Qualities such as diplomacy, trustworthiness, reliability, and diligence. * Physical and mental capacity to perform the essential functions of the position. * Reliable transportation to and from work. * Available mid-May through Labor Day - mornings, days, evenings and weekends are required. * Must pass a background check, required.   PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS * CPR/AED & First Aid certified, or the ability to become certified * Previous experience working with youth is a plus. * Basic pool maintenance knowledge   Questions about the work can be directed to Kirkwood Meyers kmeyers@ofallon.org [kmeyers@ofallon.org].   EQUAL EMPLOYMENT STATEMENT: The City of O’Fallon is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
