Description:
Assistant psychologists (AP) in this post work jointly with AIT nursing colleagues to complete person-centred assessments and interventions that improve quality of life for people with learning disabilities. Working with large networks around a person, the AP will utilise systemic thinking and knowledge to engage the network. Tasks can include using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework to understand behaviours of concerns and inform PBS plans. Drawing on CBT and other therapeutic approaches to offer psychological interventions for those experiencing mental health difficulties.
Supporting the development of robust risk assessments and crisis and contingency plans and liaising with relevant partners to manage crisis presentation. Contributing to multi-disciplinary formulation sessions using the Power Threat Meaning Framework (PTMF). The successful candidate will be supervised by a Clinical Psychologist working within the Learning Disabilities Service, as well as working closely with wider multi-disciplinary colleagues including nursing, psychiatry, social work, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy. There are strong links to Assistant Psychologist groups and opportunities to develop learning through the LD special interest group.
There are often opportunities to support Quality Improvement (QI) projects within the service, to contribute to service development and facilitate workshops for care providers on Trauma Informed Care (TIC), Autism and sleep and PBS. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a diverse borough with a client group with wide ranging needs and would suit a candidate with experience in working with people with learning disabilities and desire to work in a strengths-based model. This post does require candidates to work and travel within Haringey community
