JOB OVERVIEW:

The Beth Greenhouse Assistant at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center manages the daily activities in NBIMC s hydroponic Beth Greenhouse. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working and growing environment in the Greenhouse while meeting produce production goals set by the department. The Beth Greenhouse serves as an anchor for food access initiatives at NBIMC and across RWJBarnabas Health. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about growing healthy food for the communities we serve.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Hydroponic Growing and/or Controlled Environment Growing Certificate preferred
• High School Diploma

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS (NON-EXEMPT POSITIONS):

• 8:00 5:00
• Days

• Cleaning and sanitizing Greenhouse growing system and floors
• Crop handling including: seeding, transplanting, nutrient management and harvesting
• Packaging and labeling produce for distribution
• Loading and unloading Greenhouse supplies and materials
• Communicating daily updates to the Wellness Services Manager
• Accurate daily data reporting for the growing system and cleaning schedule
• Liaising with technical assistance providers
• Assisting with school and community group Greenhouse field trips
• Skills needed for this position include:
• Demonstrated experience in hydroponic greenhouse operations
• Strong organizational and teamwork skills
• Interpersonal communication skills
