Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Scope of work includes reviewing and coding diagnoses in the electronic medical record (EMR) using ICD-10 coding principles. Ensures diagnosis codes meet optimum specificity standards, are sequenced in a manner that supports the care provided to the patient, and conforms to coding conventions and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) and other regulatory requirements. Completes this work in a manner that supports Health Information Management data integrity standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years of experience in a team setting which may include 6 months experience in a clerical or general office setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Coursework/Training and Anatomy/Physiology and Medical Terminology
- Upon hire: AAPC or AHIMA coding-related credential
- Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR), diagnosis coding software, or related application
