Optum Advisory Services (OAS) is seeking a skilled Assoc. Director of Data Science & Advanced Analytics with extensive health care experience to lead efforts to expand and optimize analytical capabilities and insight generation within client organizations. This role will be responsible for partnering with operational, clinical, population health, risk management, and financial domain experts as well as analytical platform architects and other stakeholders to craft effective enrichments, models, and algorithms that drive insight and facilitate organizational improvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in information technology, engineering, math, computer science, analytics, engineering or another related field)
  • 7+ years of combined experience in data science, data enrichment, and advanced modeling
  • 6+ years of experience creating insights or data enrichments in SQL, Python, R, Scala, Java or other similar coding language
  • 5+ years of combined working with industry standard relational and non-relational data storage systems
  • 4+ years of experience building, mentoring, and managing high performing teams or directing the work of others
  • 4+ years of experience working with healthcare provider data systems
  • 2+ years of experience creating advanced healthcare analytics, experience with various Machine learning algorithms, AI tools
  • 2+ years of experience in data science delivery methodologies using CRISP-DM or SEMMA methodologies and life cycle management of ML models using MLops
  • 2+ years of experience working with AutoML tools/platforms like DataRobot, H2o.ai, Azure ML studio or Amazon SageMaker
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with Helathcare datasets
  • Experience justifying need for data investments to business leaders
  • Experience working with park, MapReduce, Data Bricks or related processing techniques on either AWS or Azure cloud or Hadoop environments
  • Experience working with large datasets and using AI engineering tools to process speech, text and images
  • Depth of experience and proven track record creating and promoting analytics-driven decision making within healthcare organizations
  • A willingness to define best practices, share knowledge, and improve the collective work of the team
  • Advanced degrees or certifications (preferably in information technology, engineering, math, computer science, analytics, engineering or other related field)
  • Experience manipulating large data sets through statistical software (ex. R, SAS) or other methods
  • Experience working with large data pipelines that transfer and process data using Spark, Scala, Python, Apache Kafka, Pig/Hive, etc.
  • Solid understanding of applied statistics – hypothesis testing, p-values, confidence intervals, regression, classification, and optimization
  • Experience building new analytical content within common reporting and business intelligence platforms (e.g. Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, MicroStrategy, etc.)
  • Experience creating design standards for analytical content
  • Experience leveraging multiple content dissemination techniques to meet user requirements
  • Experience contributing to cross-functional efforts, with proven success in creating healthcare analytics
  • Experience building dynamic analytical capabilities inclusive of reporting, dashboards, extracts, BI tools, analytical web applications and other similar products
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts verbally and in writing
  • Experience and credibility interacting with analytics and technology leadership
