Description:

The Associate Product Engineer (Associate PE) for Vision is responsible for the release of new vision-based inspection products and the sustaining engineering for current and legacy vision-based inspection products. The Vision Associate PE has direct interface with engineering and manufacturing departments within FILTEC. The Vision Associate PE is expected to follow all vision-based products through the product lifecycle from engineering release to manufacturing through end of life. The Vision Associate PE is responsible for validating the performance of vision-based products and ensuring conformance with customer requirements, FILTEC requirements/specifications and regulatory requirements like UL, FCC, and CE.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Engineering change Orders (EO’s) to create and/or coordinate the preparation of drawings and documentation for new products and features and correct or clarify existing designs.
  • Prepare Production Change Orders (PCO’s) to modify systems currently in production.
  • Assist Order Administration in configuring vision-based systems for Production to fulfill Sales Orders.
  • Prepare Conversion Orders, Service Notes and Upgrades to modify systems already delivered to customer sites.
  • Work with the Vision Application Engineers (AE) to process and document Engineering Validation Requests (EVR’s) for new sales.
  • Support Field Service and Customers with Parts Requests for legacy products.
  • Work directly with Manufacturing Engineers to ensure that all vision-based products released through Product Engineering are fully documented such that they can be manufactured without support from Product Engineering.
  • Write build and test procedures for production/manufacturing and test.
  • Support Manufacturing in specifying replacement components (i.e. component obsolescence) for use in current and legacy systems.
  • Maintain the performance specifications for released vision products.
  • Support Technical Documentation and Marketing with product specifications and drawings for use in internal and external documentation.
  • Work with Engineering QA and Vision AE to verify and release new software to manufacturing and field service.
  • Support Field Service and Engineering with the resolution of product performance/quality problems for vision-based inspection products installed at customer sites.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with R&D engineering, manufacturing, field service, and sales.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of mechanical, electrical, optical, and industrial automation systems.
  • Working knowledge and ease with using computing devices running Linux, Windows and/or OS X.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, occasionally on short notice.

Minimum education and work experience required:

  • S. degree, preferably in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent occupational experience.
  • 2-5 years’ experience working with engineering and manufacturing release processes.
  • Experience with machine vision-based inspection systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of optics, lighting, and cameras used in machine vision applications is a plus.
