ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Knowledge House (TKH) invites applicants for our Train-the-Trainer (TTT) program. This program offers the chance to become a Community Digital Literacy Educator, building digital literacy skill confidence with adult beginners in your community. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy supporting beginner-level learners and sharing their enthusiasm for technology with others.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Community Digital Literacy Educator, you will inspire adult learners by teaching essential digital literacy skills applicable to the workplace in a supportive environment. This role requires a patient mentor who can explain technical concepts clearly, provide encouraging guidance, and create a welcoming atmosphere. Drawing on your own journey as a once-beginner, you will connect authentically with students while demonstrating effective communication and teaching skills. This role combines practical instruction with responsive learner support to build confidence in technology use. This description outlines core functions but remains flexible to accommodate innovative teaching approaches and program developments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Training Phase

  • Attend and actively participate in all scheduled training sessions.
  • Develop proficiency with curriculum content and teaching methods.
  • Practice delivering content and responding to learner questions.
  • Engage in peer feedback and coaching to strengthen your skills.

Teaching & Facilitation

  • Facilitate engaging, interactive learning activities during in-person Tech Empowerment Day (TED) events.
  • Provide clear instructions and explanations for technical concepts.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
  • Adapt teaching approach based on learner needs and responses.

Classroom Management

  • Effectively manage classroom environment and pacing during TED events.
  • Ensure planned content is covered within allocated timeframes.
  • Address unexpected questions or challenges professionally.
  • Balance individual attention with group progress.

Learner Support

  • Provide constructive, specific, and actionable feedback to learners during TED events.
  • Encourage learner confidence and independence.
  • Recognize and accommodate different learning styles.
  • Model patience and empathy with beginning digital learners.

Time Commitment & Key Dates

  • Available for all training activities and at least one Tech Empowerment Day in your region (see full schedule details below). Should additional training opportunities arise, trainees will be notified promptly and may have the option to participate, subject to availability and program needs.
  • Training requirement: 10-12 total hours spread across 3-4 weeks
  • Teaching commitment: 8-10 hours per Tech Empowerment Day (TED) event day
