Description:
To work as part of a team to perform technical and clerical duties in
receiving and preparing specimens for dissection and microtomy in Cellular
Pathology.
Work to necessary standards within the guidelines of Health and Safety, following Standard Operating Procedures. Performs more technical support tasks under supervision.
The Cellular Pathology Department is looking for enthusiastic people to join our professional team at Swansea Bay University Health Board.
We are a busy department, processing over 35,000 specimens per year. You will be working as part of professional team, who are committed to providing a high quality service to the patients of Swansea Bay HB.
There are also many training opportunities, with full training being provided. Also there are exciting opportunities for career development within the department and the Health Board.
We are currently looking to fill a full time (37.5hrs) vacancy in our very busy department. We are primarily based at Singleton Hospital but there will be a requirement to work at Morriston Hospital.
You will be required to carry out laboratory-based support tasks to include specimen reception, data entry and preparation of specimens for processing and reporting.
We are looking for a well organised person able to work to tight schedules, who will use their own initiative.
You must have good communication skills as this role requires continuous communication with all levels of staff to ensure that work is processed in a timely and efficient manner.
In house training will be provided
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply
The ability to travel between sites in a timely manner is essential for this role.
