Description

The Caminos CNA Career Pathways Specialist serves Latinx, immigrant families and individuals through Centro’s workforce development and career programs, more specifically delivering job readiness and professional development training for individuals interested in joining the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. The Caminos CNA Career Pathways Specialist will be responsible for safely coordinating and implementing job readiness and computer digital literacy programming in different classrooms settings (i.e. virtual, synchronous, asynchronous and hybrid). Through creatively, thoughtfully, and equitably implementing these programs, theCaminos CNA Career Pathways Specialist will ensure that participants have access to training leading to sustainable employment and career advancement in the health field.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate degree in health, sciences, social work, human services, or related field required, or two years of related work experience in lieu of the degree.
  2. Interest and knowledge in developing career pathways in the health field.
  3. Previous experience as a CNA, nurse or a health-related career field preferred.
  4. Previous experience developing and implementing workforce training and education preferred.
  5. One year of experience providing instruction to small and large groups of young and adult students required.
  6. English/Spanish fluency required.
  7. Proficient with computer software applications, preferably Microsoft Office Suite required.
  8. Proficient and accurate data entry and keyboarding skills with strong attention to detail.
  9. Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance required.
  10. Ability to work independently and meet work deadlines.

Responsibilities

· Coordinates and implements programming outlined by Centro’s training best practices.
· Executes and meets recruitment, graduation, employment, retention, and career advancement program objectives outlined by Centro and funders.
· Follows curriculum guidelines and creates new lessons to teach job readiness, professional development skills, digital literacy and other related training as required.
· Assists with official CNA enrollment requirements and logistics, such as Castle Branch, vaccinations, and any documentation required by Madison College.
· Assists with navigating and applying for scholarships through various partnerships and organizations.
· Coordinates and schedules state exam directly with Headmaster.
· Manages technology in an effective way for training implementation and communication purposes.
· Provides intensive case management (wrap around support) and coaching to a minimum of 50 program participants annually during training and post-training.
· Provides a safe and creative learning space where program participants are engaged and active.
· Cultivates and maintains partnerships with CNA partners and colleges.
· Coordinates program schedule, enrollment, and logistics with instructors, employer council, Madison College, and other partners.
· Motivates students to ensure they successfully obtain the state certification and retesting.
· Manages successful transition to Madison College’s CNA class and ensures retention throughout.
· Identifies, assesses, improves, and strengthens the Caminos CNA Career Pathway program in collaboration with Caminos Health Lead and Workforce Manager.
· Proactively seeks opportunities to engage Caminos CNA alumni in continued professional development and Centro activities.
· Seeks and implements best educational practices such as tutoring, skills, and knowledge test preparation to ensure students’ success in gaining state certification.

· Coordinates employment activities and thinks creatively about new training program development.

  • Partners with UW Health to connect Caminos CNA and BIPOC nursing candidates with necessary services offered at Centro and other community organizations to ensure higher success rates.
  • Assists BIPOC in navigating workforce and educational systems and the healthcare field for better preparation and to stay actively engaged as employees and community members.

· Follows best practices from Caminos CNA pathways and partnership model to grow health pathways opportunities and healthy, equitable, working environment in collaboration with the Caminos Health Lead and Workforce Manager.
· Works as a team with the Caminos Health Lead, Workforce Manager and other career pathway specialists for recruitment, outreach, and cross-system collaboration between Centro’s programs efforts.
· Collaborates with teams across Centro.
· Develops and implements an outreach plan to ensure new clients are aware of Centro services.
· Collaborates with communication coordinator around marketing strategies, including flyers, videos etc.
· Participates in non-profit networks and community events as requested.
· Enters all data required in Centro’s database, the HIRE database coordinated by United Way or other funder databases.
· Prepares quarterly reports for funders and coordinates submission with Workforce Manager.
· Attends staff meetings and other required agency events.
· Attends team meetings as requested to discuss procedures and/or questions.
· Other duties as assigned.
