Responsibilities:
- Supervising staff engaged in galley, food and beverage, retail, stateroom accommodation and passenger service
- Assigning duties and ensuring breaks and rest periods are scheduled;
- Assigning crew accommodation; checking qualifications and making arrangement for extra staff as required service
- Ensuring that staff are appropriately attired and adequately trained
- Monitoring the level of service provided and ensuring customer service standards are met
- Performing administrative duties such as staff time collection for payroll orders, planning and coordinating menus, completing records, reports and logs, processing mails, tracks and accounts for all revenue, vessel catering, retail and passenger assets
- Conducting regular safety checks of areas used by passengers and catering crew,
- Ensuring all catering and passenger service equipment is in working order such as monitoring cleanliness, wear and tear, baggage left behind
- Ensuring adherence to emergency procedures, company policies and safe work practices
- Providing information to passengers about ferry schedules, routes and fares
- Assisting and handling passenger complaints and incidents; making phone calls and arrangements on behalf of passengers who have encountered problems.
- Keeping track of problems on previous shifts in log book and takes corrective action
- Preparing bank deposits, delivering revenue to terminals: ensuring vessel is readied for next sailing at end of each shift
- Performing additional duties including arranging for equipment repairs, ensuring work is completed in accordance with safe work practices, liaises with WCB and insurance adjusters regarding passenger and crew incidents and ship security; preparing the vessel for refit; attending staff and joint committee meetings as required; providing guidance/mentoring and training to employees; participates in fire and boat drills and performs emergency duties as assigned.
