The EO Communications team is responsible for creating and managing earned media opportunities and output, which enhance the brand’s reputation and presence across the European region.
We have a critical job to manage risks affecting the business and supporting all business units to manage those issues. Being a part of this team means you get exposure right across the business and have to quickly understand new products, technologies and be on top of the fast moving regulation in the industry.
The PR and Events team combines earned media and influencer relations, experiences and events as well as trade shows where Samsung is an exhibitor. We work across all products, from Smartphones, TVs, Washing Machines and Vaccum Cleaners. We are present in big cultural moments like the Olympics, major blockbuster film releases, gaming, music, filmmaking and home design and connected living.
Role and Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities

This role focuses on communications strategy for our Digital Appliances (Home appliances) and Mobile Experiences, with a particular focus on Wearables. Coupled with the opportunity for exciting, and creative proactive storytelling campaigns across the region, this is a role at the forefront of PR and communications.

  • Strategy development & execution: develop and deliver a regionally-relevant communications strategy that amplifies new product launch impact and drives ongoing lifecycle communications for designated products across 15 European markets.
  • Integrated communications: collaborate effectively with key regional marketing partners and agency partners on major integrated brand and product campaigns/ initiatives.
  • Agency partnership: co-create original and inventive content and activations with agency partner(s) that generate stand-out coverage and conversations across earned media channels.
  • Issues management: support the Director of Communications & Events in mapping, handling and resolving any relevant product issue that has the potential to negatively impact Samsung’s reputation in Europe.
  • Media & analyst relations: expand engagement programme with tier-one Pan-European technology, business and lifestyle media, analysts and other earned audiences of influence to strengthen brand advocacy.
  • International collaboration: cultivate good working relationships with global and local counterparts to respectively influence global strategy and gain consensus for regional approach. Teams include;
  • EU16 communications teams – partner with relevant teams and individuals across the region to develop strong multi-market communications campaigns and activations that add tangible value to local markets above and beyond their own initiatives.
  • Global communications team – foster key relationships with counterparts in the global product PR teams in Korea to influence global strategy and ensure that quality global materials are produced that meet the requirements of the European market
  • European marketing team: collaborate with brand, insights, .com and social to maximise consistency and impact of content across both earned and owned media.

Skills and Qualifications
What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A background in earned PR and communications
  • A proven track record of setting, shaping and spearheading creative international communications across earned media channels.
  • The capacity to successfully manage and deliver multiple projects (often with a tight deadline) on time.
  • A solid understanding of how to communicate with, and influence, global, regional and local partners and senior executives.
  • Taking the complex, and making it easy to understand
  • An ability to collaborate with multiple internal marketing partners in pursuit of the development and successful execution of integrated brand marketing campaigns.
  • An understanding of how to communicate the benefits of technology in the context of people’s everyday lives.
  • Someone who thinks audience first, and helps us create culturally relevant, human-centric stories that work for earned media channels.
  • A strong network of media/influencer contacts and experience media strategist.
  • Experience of working at/handling PR agency teams
  • Some experience of working within the consumer technology space
  • Line management experience of junior team members preferable.
  • English language fluency (verbal and written communications) is essential.
  • No ego. A great teammate. Able to travel. An optimist.

  • Tenacity to drive product communications strategy, execution and amplification across multiple markets, with support from global, regional and local partners;
  • Experience in producing outstanding creative campaigns, from brief to execution;
  • Worked in fast paced, pan-regional environments, can overcome ambiguity and deliver work that has impact;
  • Excellent collaboration and communications skills;
  • Some management experience of junior/entry level team members;
  • Drive, ambition and a willingness to increase the contribution of the Comms function.
