JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills (both oral and written)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team
  • Proven ability to proofread and edit communications materials and technical documents to

meet standards

  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to work well under pressure and tight timelines

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Graduation from a University program in the field of Communications, or related field
  • A minimum of four years’ experience in communications or related field

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

The Communications Specialist coordinates internal and external communication activities for EQUS.

DUTIES

• Draft communication plans, business development proposals, and a range of general

communication materials.

  • Implement, maintain, and train staff on EQUS’ Crisis communications plan and corporate

identity standards.

  • Manage internal communications on EQUS’ intranet.
  • Collaborate with departments to develop targeted communications strategies.
  • Issue corporate media communications such as press releases and external stakeholder

communications.

  • Assist with the planning and execution of annual strategic projects, as required.
  • Complete copy-editing and quality control on materials written by EQUS staff to ensure

corporate identity standards are met.

  • Responsible for monthly member newsletters including writing, sourcing, and editing articles.
  • Maintain and enhance EQUS’ website and social media platforms.
  • Lead member engagement initiatives and related campaigns / communication strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing and Events to support EQUS initiatives and achieve team

deliverables.

  • Facilitate EQUS’ member surveys, including third party satisfaction surveys and in-house annual

member surveys. Compile results, complete simple analyses of data, and offer communication

tactics and strategies to address member feedback.

  • Lead EQUS’ community relations efforts, including managing EQUS’ student scholarship

opportunities, sponsorship program, and community donation programs.
