Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
MV Hope is seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Equity Liaison to join our team. This part-time position involves working closely with MV Hopes Community Coalition Coordinator, the MV Hope Equity Team, community members, organizations, and stakeholders to promote equity and inclusion and substance abuse prevention in the Mount Vernon School District. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of social justice issues and experience in community outreach and engagement, along with the ability to manage the expected ethical moments of dual relationships and potential conflicts of interest. This position also includes general oversight for the coalitions activities, including planning, delivering, evaluating and reporting on activities. The Community Equity Liaison will identify and implement strategies that lead to sustainable and lasting community involvement. They will function at a high level working collaboratively and independently.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school degree or GED is required
- Skilled use of social media platforms, content creation, and engagement
- Minimum of 1 year of design, communications, writing or related experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to demonstrate the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Strongly self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a team
- Willing and able to learn quickly
- Willing and able to accept directions and feedback
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Current state-approved certifications in CPR/AED, First Aid & Bloodborne Pathogens, as well as Abuse Prevention and Mandatory Reporting training are required within 90 days of hire.
- Experience in community outreach, engagement, and advocacy.
- Strong understanding of equity, inclusion, and social justice issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish (required).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google docs and Canva (can train)

Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with MV Hope Coordinator and the MV Hope Equity Team to help implement strategies to promote equity and inclusion within the community
- Serve as a liaison between the Equity Team, community and the MV Hope Coalition
- Gather and analyze data on community needs and concerns related to equity
- Advocate for policies and practices that support equity and inclusion
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the effective implementation of equity initiatives
- Provide resources and support to community members facing equity-related challenges
- Helps plan and execute coalition meetings and committee meetings for MV Hope
- Collaborate with Coalition Coordinator on capacity building and strategy
- Continually broaden expertise in prevention, including risk and protective factor model, and serve as a resource person for the indicated communities and agency
- Helps coordinate and support coalition subcommittees and additional meetings
- Data Entry support
Communications:
- Website and social media platform updates
- Communicate with coalition around strategy, events, and upcoming opportunities
Other:
- Attend prevention trainings and conferences
- Current certification or ability to obtain Certified Prevention Professional (CPP) certification.
- Help with grant writing
- Participate on various committees with other leaders across the association as assigned
- Consistently manages and meets deadlines
- Performs other duties as assigned
