SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
 Current VIC Private Security Individual Licence, with Control Room Operator (Required).
 Current First Aid and CPR certifications (Required).
 Working with Children Check (Required).
 Police Check (Required).
 Minimum 1 year Control Room Experience (Required).
 Strong knowledge of CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
 Capable of using Microsoft office - Excel & Word.
 Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
 High attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure.
 Ability to multi-task and prioritise in a fast-paced, high-security environment.
 Proven ability to work autonomously and within a team.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Level 4 Control Room Operator, you will play a critical role in overseeing and protecting a premier A-grade commercial building based on Collins Street in the Melbourne CBD.
The primary focus of a control room operator is monitoring and managing the building’s systems and security, ensuring optimal operation and safety. This includes tasks like monitoring surveillance systems, responding to alarms, managing access control, and coordinating with on-site personnel. You will also play a role in incident and emergency response, as well as maintaining communication with various stakeholders.
You will be working a rotating roster and as part of a wider security team managed by an onsite security manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Control Room Operator, your core duties will include:
 Monitoring and Surveillance - You will be responsible for monitoring various systems, including CCTV cameras, security alarms, and building management systems. This involves observing the systems, identifying potential issues, and taking appropriate action.
 Incident and Emergency Response - In the event of an incident or emergency, you would be the first point of contact and would initiate the appropriate response procedures. This could involve contacting emergency services, coordinating with on-site security personnel, and providing updates to relevant parties.
 Access Control Management – You would manage access to the building, ensuring that only authorised personnel are allowed entry. This may involve monitoring entry points, issuing access cards, and managing visitor access.
 Communication and Coordination – You will act as a central hub for communication, coordinating with various teams including security personnel, maintenance staff, and emergency services. You will relay information, provide updates, and ensure that all parties are aware of the situation.
 Documentation and Reporting – A key aspect of your role is to document all incidents, security breaches, and system malfunctions. This includes maintaining accurate activity logs, records and reports, which can be used for analysis and future reference.
 Maintaining Building Systems – You will be responsible for maintaining the building’s systems, such as HVAC and lighting. This may involve monitoring system performance, identifying potential issues, and initiating maintenance requests.
 Ensuring Safety and Security - Ultimately, your primary focus is to ensure the safety and security of the building and its occupants. You will achieve this through a combination of monitoring, response, and coordination, making you a vital part of the building’s security and operational infrastructure.
