Description:

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

The incumbent:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Will hold a Cross Connection Control Inspector certificate or a combination of related experience and/or education.
  • Will have two years of experience performing a variety of the essential duties of the position or a related position is preferred
  • Will have the ability to analyze situations effectively and objectively and determine a course of action
  • Will use independent judgment to make decisions of a technical, management and/or administrative nature in support of ensuring corporate compliance
  • Has the ability to effectively coordinate, perform, and complete multiple duties and assignments concurrently and in a timely manner
  • Has the ability to effectively persuade, inform, educate, train, solicit information, motivate a wide variety of individuals or groups
  • Will be proficient in the use of computers including the full suite of Microsoft Office programs
  • Will possess strong commitment to safety in the workplace and Aquatera’s values
  • Will perform duties in alignment with Aquatera’s principles and values
  • Will possess strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with various work groups
  • Will possess a valid Alberta driver’s license (Class 5)

Responsibilities:

The Cross Connection Control Inspector will:

  • Manage and maintain the Cross Connection Control Policy and Cross Connection Control Program
  • Manage and maintain a ‘Certified Backflow Prevention’ tester list
  • Create and manage all appropriate Aquatera internal safety documentation
  • Monitor, review tests, and perform hazard assessments/inspections of Aquatera’s cross connection and backflow assembly testing programs
  • Provide direction in specifying type of backflow prevention assembly required to meet applicable regulations
  • Conduct public awareness and information activities regarding the cross-connection program, including organizing and coordinating mailing lists for cross connection testing to owners of assemblies and following up to ensure compliance, including notification of non-compliance to property owners
  • Maintain records pertaining to the water quality sampling/testing and cross connection programs
  • Manage and maintains a computerized cross connection control program and database to track and inspect all existing backflow prevention assemblies within Aquatera’s distribution system
  • Report known or suspected incidences of potable water contamination by backflow or cross connection to Alberta Health Services and Alberta Environment and Parks
  • Collaborate and communicate with shareholders regarding control and enforcement of all applicable provincial legislation and municipal bylaws
  • Work collaboratively with surrounding municipal governments, plumbing associations, health officials, building associations, etc.
  • Have the ability to deal with people in a firm manner and to act with sound judgement under pressure
  • Will have the ability to work unsupervised and take action on an initiative within given guidelines
  • Perform other duties as required
