Data Analyst (12 month Fixed-Term Contract)
Salary: National ranging from £41,800 to £46,000 and London from £46,000 to £50,000

The team/department
The Digital Intelligence Solutions (DIS) department are crucial in helping colleagues across the FCA access and make sense of data and intelligence about firms, individuals, and markets we regulate. We do this in two ways: By surfacing insights for action for colleagues across the organisation by building tools and dashboards, and by helping colleagues with bespoke requests for insights on a specific topic. Due to increasing demand, we are recruiting a meticulous data analyst to join our growing team.
DIS is a department within the Intelligence & Digital (I&D) directorate as part of the wider Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI) division.

What you will be doing (the role)

  • Data Consultancy: Engaging with business areas across the entire FCA to understand their data gaps, translating their requirements from “business problems” to “data analytics questions”
  • Intelligence Gathering and Data Ingestion: Identifying data sources that answers those questions, and using your Python skills to ensure the collected data is interoperable with our internal datasets and systems through entity resolution
  • Surfacing Insights: Produce actionable intelligence outputs through reporting or building compelling dashboards using Tableau that instigates action

The skills and experience you will have
Minimum

  • Tableau desktop and server experience in a business context, and demonstrable visualisation skills
  • Proficiency in Python to conduct data analysis

Essential

  • Experience in reviewing complex datasets with high attention to detail to derive actionable insights
  • Effective communication skills to empathise the needs of our users and presentation skills to enthuse a wide variety of stakeholders of all levels and across disciplines
  • Strong organisation skills to work alone to balance and coordinate between multiple projects with different stakeholders effectively
  • Willingness to learn, as well as support the development of both junior and senior colleagues in the team

What to expect from our interview process
The assessment process consists of an initial screening call with one our Recruitment Partners. If successful, you will be invited to complete a technical case study. The final stage will be a competency based interview. The interview process is due to start from week commencing 23rd September.
