The Data Platform Manager will coordinate projects / data processes and line manage DevOps Engineer(s). They will own the technical management and accountability for the Data Platforms used by Data & Analytics (DnA) teams in the UK.
They will also Design, configure and maintenance of effective Data platforms and data flows in collaboration with DnA and IT colleagues.
Non London - £56,600 to £61,600
London - £62,300 to £67,300
- Accountable for the setup, configuration, and management of the Maximus Data platforms including capacity, security, availability, and disaster recovery plans and to ensure monitoring and maintenance activities take place.
- Support the Data Architect in defining and maintaining the Data Architecture roadmap.
- Monitor Data platforms and data flows and coordinate issue resolution.
- Line management of DevOps Engineer(s).
- Configuration of data management, visualisation, and analytical platforms in support of DnA service delivery including Azure Databricks / Delta Lake and Synapse, SQLServer, Analysis Services / PowerBI.
- Put in place automated processes to reduce effort for colleagues in setup and maintenance of data platforms. Ie. use of terraform / Kubernetes.
- Undertake investigation and recommendations for Data Platform Incidents. Determine the root cause and implement fixes, coordinating with other teams where necessary.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification and at least 3 years’ experience working as a BI Data Platform Engineer or equivalent.
- Experience in developing CI/CD pipelines (preferably in Azure Devops but other similar tools will be considered).
- Experience in developing release processes and documentation.
- Experience in using version control tools i.e GIT.
- BI platform project experience utilising Microsoft enterprise BI stack / Azure
- Integrating tooling e.g code quality, security, test frameworks etc
- Experience of Azure Data Lake, Azure Devops and analytics components including as Data Bricks, Data Factory, Synapse and Analysis Services
- Experience of designing, implementing, and maintaining data platforms and solutions
Desirable
- Experience in working in Agile teams

- Ability to design, configure and maintain end-to-end BI platform solutions, either as a subject matter expert within a team or independently
- Ability to collaborate across BI / IT teams internally and externally to deliver projects
- Highly effective and professional communication skills when working with both team colleagues and internal / external stakeholders
- Analytical skill set with an ability to interpret requirements and advise on and implement data platform solutions
- Excellent attention to detail with an ability to work effectively in a team and independently
