Description:
As our Data Protection Manager, you will spearhead our global data protection and privacy strategies, ensuring compliance across the EAA, UK, and US regions. You will be critical in developing, implementing, and overseeing our data privacy frameworks to meet diverse regulatory requirements and to establish consistent global internal standards.
A strong track record in Data Protection Management, with extensive knowledge of data protection laws in the UK and EU is essential, and to succeed you will also need:
- A solid foundation in law, IT, or a related field, ideally supplemented by professional data protection certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM).
- Good knowledge of regulations across the U.S would be an advantage.
- Exceptional analytical and organizational capabilities, adept at steering multiple projects and adapting to regulatory changes.
- Influential communication skills, capable of engaging with and securing buy-in from stakeholders across different regions and cultures.
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting DPIAs, managing data incidents, and leading international compliance and privacy initiatives
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of global data protection policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant data protection laws across the EAA, UK, and U.S.
- Conduct thorough Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and continually monitor compliance efforts across all operational regions, adjusting strategies as regulations evolve.
- Act as the primary liaison for data protection authorities and individuals whose data we process, ensuring transparent and effective communication.
- Coordinate responses to data breaches and incidents, implementing robust notification and mitigation strategies in line with global standards.
- Collaborate with the wider Information Security team and other departments to embed data protection by design and default across the organization.
- Champion internal training and awareness programs to cultivate a global culture of data protection and privacy awareness within World of Books Group.

This role is offered as hybrid working and can be based from our offices in London, Coventry or Goring by Sea
