THE BUSINESS BRIEF:
Microsoft Teams is the fastest-growing business app in Microsoft history. We’re looking for a talented designer to join us to help define and design compelling experiences that empower teams to achieve more together.
Our design team is focused on delivering new innovations across next-gen messaging features, core framework, and collaboration experiences. We value creativity, sharingideas openly, and having fun while we work. Most of all, we’re motivated by the people we want to love our products.
At the core of this job, you will craft industry standard design patterns for the Teams Desktop across Web and native platforms (MacOS/Windows). Write detailed usage guidelines and best practices for internal and external stakeholders. Deliver components and critical design system infrastructure underpinning the product and broader Fluent design system. As well as create design assets for designers that provide efficient workflows and solutions to their day-to-day tasks.
As a systems designer you will have a close-knit collaboration with designers and developers both in building the system and maintaining it. Working together to ensure naming conventions and design assets and code are in sync. As well as gathering requirements across various teams to create rationale for adding new components or features to the system in close collaboration with PM.
You will advocate for the design system by working closely with other designers and stakeholders to demonstrate its value and the advantage of using it. Through producing hands-on demos, videos and presentations as well as working 1:1, you will guide designers on how to adopt new controls into features.
You will identify user-centered design patterns including creating detailed accessibility and interaction guidelines, place designs into user context and create interactions that align to those requirements. You will need to show attention to detail and passion in the work you produce. You should have experience working closely with engineers to deliver features at a high-quality pixel perfect level. You will articulate your thinking using a variety of mediums from detailed design specifications to wireframes and functional prototypes. Experience working with design tokens and graphic/visual design is advantageous.

- Work closely and constructively with product management, visual and interaction designers, editors, engineers and user researchers to create and deliver world class components, patterns and design documentation.
- Advocate for your design solutions by putting them in context of business and user goals.
- Deliver world-class interaction and visual designs from initial concept through to shipping.
- Solve complex design problems in simple and intuitive ways, that blend brand personality, visual, motion and sound to create delightful experiences.
