The Development Associate leads administrative operations for a Resource Development team responsible for securing an annual budget of $34 million. This role is critical to donor stewardship, appeals, communications, and fundraising events. We are seeking a person who is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about social justice.

This is the perfect position for someone who:

  • Wants to learn the nuts and bolts of non-profit fundraising
  • Is a systems thinker who finds satisfaction in creating effective business processes
  • Possesses remarkable organizational skills, loves to create order out of chaos, and edits with an eagle eye

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree or equivalent
  • 1+ years of fundraising, marketing, or non-profit experience
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Experience working with a donor or CRM database, such as DonorPerfect, Raisers Edge, or SalesForce
  • Ability to excel in independent and team-based work and to collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to occasionally work unconventional hours and potentially travel for fundraising activities
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) abilities preferred
  • Working experience with DonorPerfect a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Manage gift processing and donor acknowledgement process
  • Respond to donor inquiries via phone and email
  • Maintain DonorPerfect database donor records and enter gifts
  • Produce DonorPerfect database reports
  • Make donor thank you calls, send appreciation emails, and write thank you notes
  • Support planning and execution of special events
  • Coordinate donor mailings
  • Conduct donor and foundation research
  • Support finance team with reconciliation and audit support
  • General administrative support for the department, including coordinating meetings, and entering project plans into Planner
  • Work from CRLAs Oakland office at least two days per week to produce thank you letters, check mail, manage branded items, and organize general office supplies
