Job Description
Kwinana Energy Recovery is Australia’s first energy recovery plant and is at the forefront of innovative waste management solutions, converting waste into renewable energy. Our mission is to provide sustainable energy solutions while addressing environmental challenges associated with waste disposal, supporting the circular economy and waste hierarchy
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Development Manager to join our team. The Development Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of business innovation and growth strategies to maximise the value of the Kwinana Energy Recovery Business. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong project management skills and a passion for sustainability and renewable energy
The ideal candidate will have experience in, and a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities associated with Energy Recovery Facilities, including but not limited to residue re-use, innovative approaches to heat and/or power sales, and emissions reductions plus alternative fuel or product generation

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake a rigorous process of identification, assessment, and prioritizing of business opportunities, to deliver the earliest and most significant financial returns to the business
  • Led and managed the development of Energy Recovery projects from inception through to completion.
  • Coordinate with engineering, environmental, and regulatory teams to ensure projects meet all technical and legal requirements
  • Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation
  • Identify and evaluate new project opportunities and partnerships
  • Prepare and present project proposals, feasibility studies, and reports to stakeholders and senior management including business cases and capex applications, considering federal and state funding available
  • Oversee project permitting and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while identifying and influencing future policy directions in both the renewable Energy and Environmental sectors
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry-associated and networks, and community groups to maximize support for growth opportunities
  • Monitor and report on project progress, resolving any issues that arise
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Energy Recovery and associated processes
  • Collaborate with Acciona Central Innovation and Development teams and support in the preparation of tenders for future Energy Recovery projects within Australia

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Project Management, or a related field. A Post Graduate qualification or Master’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within the renewable energy or waste management sectors.
  • Strong understanding of Energy Recovery and related technologies and processes
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects on time and within budget
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in project management software and tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship
