Job Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Development, in Repsol Renewables North America Business Unit, the Project Development Lead will be responsible for development and permitting of a wide portfolio of early-to-late-stage utility-scale solar photovoltaic, wind and energy storage projects in US. They will engage in both greenfield, advanced and M&A projects. The successful candidate will have a project management background, specifically in permitting & PMO, with experience in managing complex projects and wide portfolios, management skills and the ability and enthusiasm to drive projects through to completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a wide portfolio of solar, wind and storage, focusing on achieving goals and defined target deadlines. Develop processes and tracking tools with key milestones, parameters, schedules, and cost forecast.
  • Advance the development of assigned projects to construction-ready status
  • Accountable for securing all discretionary permits required to construct and operate utility-scale power plant and energy storage projects.
  • Prepare and implement permitting strategies, schedules, and agency and public outreach efforts to minimize project cost and risk.
  • Work closely with internal and external legal, engineering & construction, asset management, HSE, O&M and development partners, consultants, state/county/local governments, community groups and neighbors as needed to ensure project success.
  • Elaborate and participate in presentations to internal management, external stakeholders, and decision-making authorities.
  • Develop and maintain project budget and cash flow forecasting models
  • Facilitate the creation of capex estimates for new projects by coordinating with internal stakeholders
  • Create and/or manage internal tools for tracking efforts to develop/construct projects and for coordinating internal resources and priorities
  • Use project management tools such as MS Project, Power BI to track and report on project critical challenges, schedules, and budgets
  • Support investor due diligence and financial closing for projects under construction
  • Assist with development efforts such as land agreement processing, permit preparation, and other efforts
  • Manage and coordinate with internal and external resources to achieve land acquisition, permitting, interconnection/transmission, and other project development milestones, with accountability for budget and schedule
  • Create and maintain project maps, databases and tracking tools for assigned projects
  • Perform regional market and competitive analysis as requested
  • Support due diligence on project acquisition opportunities as requested
  • Provide development support through engineering, procurement, construction, and financing as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, master’s degree a plus
  • Demonstrated 3+ years successfully developing, permitting, or planning renewable energy projects
  • Understanding of and experience in greenfield project development, environmental assessments, investigations, and documentation, and land use planning.
  • Broad knowledge of Federal, state, regional, and local air, water, and conservation laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
  • Excellent problem solving and strategic thinking skills, detail-oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of work product.
  • Ability to manage a large workload, often providing support to processes managed by colleagues, while prioritizing tasks and effectively juggling competing deadlines.
  • Excellent Team-worker, prioritizing the fulfillment of team objectives
  • Travel, as required (up to 25%)
