Responsibilities

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Director of Nursing is primarily responsible for the daily operations, clinical quality management and the operational compliance of the ASC including: patient care, AAAHC/TJC/ QuadA accreditation compliance, Life Safety, regulatory compliance, infection prevention, patient safety, and performance improvement of the ASC.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the ASC team by providing nursing leadership and mentoring directed at establishing/maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Establish and implement AAAHC, TJC, AORN, AAMI and APIC best practice recommendations in the ASC.
  • Supports and performs in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Pursues success of the approved QAPI (MAC) Program through the following actions: supporting risk management and participating in patient and employee safety programs, staff development and identifying appropriate staffing patterns and problem resolution, objectively evaluating suggestions, grievances and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care, interacting with Medical Director and supervisors and holding committee meetings to enhance communication and medical staff involvement in the QAPI process, monitors patient care programs, monitors the Facility’s physical environment and reports status to the Governing Body and supervisors, submits accurate and timely reports, attends meetings/seminars to stay current on state and federal laws and regulations, and reviews policies and procedures as directed.
  • Effective communication with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers through respectful interactions, using a translator when needed, and documenting the interactions when applicable.
  • Maintains and promotes professional competence through multi-modal learning experiences including: committee, conference and QAPI activities, maintaining memberships in relevant professional organizations, organizes and participates in staff orientation, in-services, and development programs, and maintains documentation for completion of educational programs and staff competencies to verify attendance.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures including: reporting observed and suspected violations, hazards and noncompliance to Facility policy, monitors employee adherence to safety measures in performance of job responsibilities, Provides leadership in emergency situations, maintains scheduled drills, and implements procedures for safety, infection control, and OSHA requirements while assuring staff competence.
  • Interacts appropriately with various age groups including: accurate assessment and interpretation of age-specific patient data, age-specific paitnet responses to communications, involves family and significant others in decision making about patient care, accurately applies knowledge of growth and development in all situations.
  • Assists with operating budgets, capital expenses and purchases and promotes cost effectiveness with all aspects of inventory control.
  • Applies basic management principles and practices to supervision of the ASC, including: managing and maintaining staff schedules to maintain an efficient, safe and effective OR schedule, participates in hiring and termination of all non-physician ASC staff, maintains personnel files according to confidentiality/federal/state requirements, manages time and attendance for ASC staff, and evaluates staff performance throughout the year and counsels staff when appropriate.
  • Applies accepted perioperative principles and practices to patient care activities in the Facility including: staff assignments and duty delegation in conjunction with staff skillset, coordinates patient care activities with medical staff and health care team to provide continuity of care, makes rounds multiple times throughout the day and participates in patient assignments when needed, and oversees all nursing activities during an emergency to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Applies material management principles to establish procedures for use, cleaning and maintenance of patient care equipment and supplies including: promoting cost-effectiveness and controlling waste, supervising the care and cleaning of equipment to maintain proper working conditions, and reviews inventor for availability of supplies and equipment needed for patient care.
  • Maintains a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment of care that is consistent with the Facility’s mission and services and pertinent to law and regulations including: implementing and managing a safety and security plan, OSHA hazardous communication plan, an emergency preparedness plan, maintaining and conducting necessary Facility drills, and implementing an equipment and utilities management system.
  • Ensuring patient safety initiatives are accomplished including review of staff competency, patient safety/infection prevention/risk management/quality improvement committee execution, and RM processes adherence.
  • Is continuously accountable for the review and facilitation of all QAPI needs including peer review, monthly surgeon reports, quarterly and annual trend analysis and all other requirements.
  • Seeks vendor bids when needs are identified and assists in the review of all vendor contracts and credentials/licensing.
  • Performs AAAHC, TJC, CMS, Licensure and any other state/site specific audits or surveys/prep.
  • Provide process and policy support specific to the ASC.

    Pay: $130,000.00 - $156,000.00 per year
