Job Description:
We currently have an opening for an Intermediate Ecologist in our Edmonton office. You are a dynamic individual looking to build upon your current success in environmental consulting. With ambition, a flare for project management, and an entrepreneurial spirit, you are ready for a role within our Applied Ecology Group. Your experience includes vegetation and soils assessments, wetland delineations, project management and technical report writing. Knowledge of wildlife, fisheries, and GIS is an asset. You have experience managing projects and can apply Alberta’s regulatory processes to projects within your discipline. You have a commitment to technical excellence, a critical mind for problem solving and ability to communicate to project teams and clients.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Developing and implementing field programs (vegetation, wetlands, soils) and evaluating development impacts on ecosystem components.
  • Contributing to or leading the preparation of high quality scientific and technical reports, including permits and regulatory documents.
  • Managing projects and inter-disciplinary project teams.
  • Assisting and /or leading the preparation of proposals and contributing to other business development activities.
  • Preparing and delivering presentations on project outcomes to clients and regulators.
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Contributing to oversight, mentorship and coordination of staff in the Edmonton office.
  • Collaborating with a dynamic team of environmental scientists and engineers.

Job Requirements:

What you will bring:

  • Undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) in a relevant pure or applied science (graduate degree preferred).
  • Professional registration or eligibility for registration (e.g. P.Ag., P.Biol.).
  • Project experience in vegetation, wetland, and soils assessments.
  • Strong time management and organizational ability.
  • 6+ years post-graduation experience in environmental consulting.
  • Leadership skills and a drive to succeed.
  • A strong understanding of relevant provincial and federal legislation, regulation and permitting processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and technical report writing experience.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines within a team environment.
  • Ability to manage diverse projects and budgets.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and provide supervisory support to other team members.
  • Ability to travel for short periods of time.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
