Description:
We are looking for an Economist/Lead Analyst to work in our Brisbane Office!

You will provide economic analysis and policy advice to support the Reserve Bank’s objectives. You will monitor current developments in the economy, undertake policy-relevant research and analysis, and collaborate with a range of internal and external policymakers and experts.
What you will do
- You will work within the RBA’s liaison team in the Brisbane office, which is part of the Economic Analysis Department. The RBA’s liaison program provides the Bank with invaluable insights into the economic conditions facing Australian businesses, industry bodies, government agencies and community organisations. This information provides a significant contribution to the Bank’s understanding of the economy and monetary policy advice.
- As part of the liaison team, you will represent the Bank in meetings with executives from a wide range of organisations, gathering information and contributing to community understanding of the RBA’s work.
- You will conduct analysis and research on important issues related to monetary policy, including monitoring, interpreting and analysing relevant information from liaison discussions and other relevant data.
- You will collaborate with various areas of the Bank to provide high quality analysis and advice to decision makers.
- You will effectively communicate analysis and research to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Your background
- Proven experience in macroeconomic or microeconomic analysis
- Familiarity with issues related to the Australian economy
- An ability to prepare written reports and deliver clear presentations
- Strong applied technical skills and an ability to use theoretical concepts to interpret and analyse data
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Exceptional ability to collaborate productively with others and work independently as required
- An honours degree or higher in economics, finance or a related discipline is highly desirable
Your team
Economic Group is responsible for analysis of economic trends, forecasting and research relevant to the development of monetary policy. Economic Analysis Department monitors and forecasts trends in the international and domestic economies and provides regular advice on these developments and on monetary policy to the Governors and the Board.
