Job Purpose
We seek a top-performing technical leader with the passion, experience and gravitas to drive QA innovation and process improvements across the teams of engineers developing Sophos’ next-generation Cloud Platform for the Endpoint Security Group. The ideal candidate will be high energy, team-oriented, customer-driven problem solver with prior experience in managing QA for highly scalable and easy to use products for small businesses and enterprises.

Main Duties

  • Help recruit, hire and retain top technical QA talent.
  • Drive changes to test automation approach, systems, coverage, and reporting.
  • Hold overall QA responsibility for Sophos’ highest profile engineering programs, defining the test strategy, communicating with the engineering teams and reporting on QA approach, test progress and results to senior management.
  • Constantly improve our engineering QA processes, practices and predictability, ensuring that QA’s best practices are followed, and working with the QA Leads in each development team to identify areas for quality improvements.
  • To mentor and coach QA engineers and QA Leads in each of the engineering teams.
  • Build strong relationships with peers and executives across the Products organization.
  • Work with the global teams based in the Abingdon, Boston and Vancouver offices.
  • When required, define, create, and execute test cases alongside other engineers.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience leading QA across multiple engineering teams, with a track record of successfully ensuring high quality in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in identifying and implementing process improvements for improved efficiency and quality.
  • Practical experience in software test automation across cloud-hosted applications, with an understanding and appreciation of the benefits and limitations of testing across the full application stack.
  • Understanding of cloud architecture, ideally using AWS.
  • Passion for building and automating quality into the software development lifecycle.
  • Previous experience in test case management, defect tracking and reporting, using tools like JIRA and TestRail.
  • Ability to drive decision-making processes to consensus and execute projects to completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Either prior experience, or a passion to learn the world of internet security and the Sophos product set.
