Description

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Are you ready to apply your IT expertise to bolster our national security? In a world of increasing geopolitical tensions, information technology plays a crucial role in defense. As an IT consultant within the Advanced Computing Engineering research group, you will work on projects that truly make a difference. You will bridge the gap between military operations and advanced IT solutions. Ready to take on this mission? Read on!

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU

You enjoy guiding clients, structuring, and analyzing their problems from multiple perspectives. You can identify the perspective most relevant to the situation and align it with the interests of various stakeholders. You also enjoy regularly visiting clients and are not afraid to provide constructive feedback, highlight inconsistencies, or even play the role of devil’s advocate when needed. You work well in teams. Additionally, you bring:

  • A master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Business Information Technology, Technical Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with an enterprise architecture approach to translate business and information needs into the setup of information systems.
  • At least three years of work experience where you have gained practical insights and still see ample room for personal growth and development.
  • Ideally, familiarity with the Defence organization, operational processes, and ICT systems (C4I), or a strong motivation to learn about them.
  • If possible, experience with creating architecture views according to methodologies such as TOGAF and NAF, and translating these views into a customer perspective.
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English is essential.

Don’t meet all the criteria? No problem! We still encourage you to apply, as we are looking for individuals who are a great fit for the team.

Responsibilities

WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE?

The Dutch Defence organization is evolving its ways of working and operations, with information playing a central role. Combining this with new technological capabilities brings fascinating challenges. For instance, creating IT and data architectures that align well with business processes for information processing, organizing data management across various classification levels, managing software updates on mission-critical vehicles, or enabling data exchanges across platforms with limited connectivity. You will be a key player in these efforts. Working on multiple projects simultaneously, you will develop new architectures and concepts in collaboration with colleagues and in interaction with the client. As an enterprise architect, you will connect operations, business processes, and information technology to design solutions that address Defence challenges.
Your home base within TNO will be Advanced Computing Engineering. This research group demonstrates the feasibility and value of innovative IT applications for both business and government. We tackle challenges related to the automatic acquisition, storage, accessibility, and analysis of large datasets, predictive analytics, large-scale simulation, and the interaction between people and complex data-processing systems. Our teams in The Hague consist of over fifty experts, a diverse mix of applied researchers, systems architects, and IT systems and process consultants. We are a diverse and social team, ready to support you, and at the same time, we’re eager to learn from you!
