THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an opportunity for a Façade Engineer to join our London team.
Arup Façades is a multi-disciplinary team of Façade Designers. It includes Engineers, Technical Specialists, Building Physicists and Architects, all of whom share a passionate interest in cladding design. We are a leading dedicated façade consultancy, both nationally and internationally.
Our creativity and technical expertise allow us to take on ambitious projects that few companies can deliver.
We offer a depth and range of technical skills including specialist glass and building physics engineering. We have global forums to share technical advice and access to the latest software and technical documentation.
We collaborate with other specialists; Materials Consulting, Advanced Technology and Research, Fire Engineering and Acoustics.

The role will see you:

  • Developing excellent facade solutions and see these through from concept to implementation. It will include scrutinising detailed designs generated by specialist façade contractors.Liaising with clients, architects and contractors for the delivery of designs.
  • Leading projects and being responsible for the delivery of our scope of services including managing a project team from within and outside the facade group
  • Working directly with our clients, Architects, contractors and supply chain.
  • Attending meetings and speaking with clients and design disciplines to establish their needs
  • Reviewing technical submissions for compliance with design intent

Is this role right for you?

We’re looking for a candidate who:

  • Has a portfolio of medium to large-scale projects
  • Applies design to all aspects of a façade package, whether it be curtain wall, window systems, precast cladding, stonework or brickwork
  • Has experience of compiling Façade Specification for Tender
  • Shows a strong ability to communicate with the team through sketching, drawing, in writing and also using computer modelling tools
  • Is proficient in CAD
  • Uses software tools for building physics assessments and parametric studies (thermal assessments, solar analyses, condensation risk assessments and daylighting analyses etc)
