Description:
EDUCATION:
Community College diploma in a related discipline such as Commerce, Accounting or Business Administration or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
EXPERIENCE:
Three year’s progressive accounting experience including financial monitoring and analysis, financial reporting or equivalent in a Finance department, preferably in a university environment.
SKILLS:
Understanding of accounting principles and practices, strong aptitude for working with numbers where accuracy is essential.
Working knowledge using eReports, Concur and SmartBuy, SIS or similar on-line database.
Demonstrated ability to work courteously and effectively with people and the public, obtaining and providing information in a clear and concise manner.
Exercising good judgment, initiative, and discretion.
Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
Demonstrated effectiveness in attending to details.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Excellent organizational skills including ability to set priorities and meet deadlines, including ability to work effectively under pressure of high volume.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective member of a team.
Must be punctual and reliable.
Typing 45 wpm.
Accuracy essential.
Intermediate skill level in Word, Excel, e-mail software (e.g., Lotus Notes).
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Manager, Graduate Studies, and Research Services this position provides financial and administrative support at the graduate studies and research services office. This position is responsible for providing general financial support, reconciliation, graduate funding, and endowments support, as well as post-award research support. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with York policies, granting agency guidelines, Osgoode SOPs and respective timelines.
