University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Financial Reporting Analyst in our Finance Department.


Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Business Administration or Accounting diploma OR equivalent relevant experience
  • Knowledge of fundamental accounting practices and principles
  • Knowledge of Access and Crystal reports
  • Proven self-learning and initiation skills; work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities under stressful conditions to meet tight deadline with minimal direction
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and satisfaction
  • Excellent attention to detail with proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to identify gap and propose solutions
  • Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, with an aptitude for learning new computer applications quickly
  • Ability to discuss Financial coverage with patients and/or family members

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare billing
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Flexibility with work schedule
  • Experience Infor Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (HRCM)

Provide Subject Matter Expertise on responsible insurers

  • Monitor and stay current of the insurer’s (e.g. IFH, Armed Forces etc.) billing rules and guidelines
  • Update or escalate to management with regards to changes that impact workflow or revenue; participate in system testing should it require a change in the system
  • Assist with audits

Ensure Accurate and Timely Billing

  • Liaise with insurers, patient, support workers, and clinical team in a professional manner
  • Work closely with medical team including physician to obtain pre-approval for special services in a timely manner
  • Review the accuracy of patient data including chart review prior to billing
  • Ensure billing is complete and compliant to insurer’s rules to reduce rejection including accurate selection of ICD codes
  • Timely invoice submission

Ensure Timely Collection

  • Maintain healthy aging portfolio by following up persistently on overdue accounts
  • Review Payment Summary
  • Investigate rejection timely to rebill or appeal as appropriate to minimize write-off

Perform cross-functional duties consistent with the job classification, as required

Reporting Duties

  • Assist in preparing a variety of different reports in Access/Crystal Reports for ex. Aging, KPI reports.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports/materials for audit committee.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial reports when requested for special projects
  • Other reporting duties will be requested as required
