ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland’s first Nuclear Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Jacobs are seeking a Fire Engineer to support with the Hinkley Point C / Sizewell C Project, working as part of our embedded teams the role will be based at our Bristol office, key responsibilities will be:
- Analyses the 3D model and identifies the various combustible materials present in each area
- Performs temperature change calculations over time for a simulated fire (modelling of various situations using the MAGIC software)
- Studies the risk of damage to certain systems (functional redundancy)
- Monitors and includes in the models the changes issued by all the engineering teams(change of positioning of cable trays, electrical cabinets, ventilation ducts, etc.) Fire protection
- Recommends protection solutions to prevent an outbreak of fire or to make it improbable and fire detection and firefighting methods for the quickest possible detection and response
- Perform fire protection calculation using specific software
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent specializing in safety and/or fire protection technologies
- Knowledge of ETCF (EPR technical code for fire)
- Experience and knowledge of UK Fire Regulations including BS9999 is preferable
- Calculations relating to fire protection and ability to work with calculation tools
- Ability to propose fire protection and detection solutions
