Description
Arbonics is seeking a Forest Carbon Analyst to strengthen our Verification Team. This role sits at the intersection of carbon modelling, forestry expertise, and project development - working cross-functionally with our technology and sales teams. The Forest Carbon Analyst will act as our in-house technical expert on forest carbon accounting, supporting the delivery of high-quality MRV and Project Description Documents (PDDs) and ensuring credibility in client engagements. Key Responsibilities Carbon Modelling & Analysis Own carbon calculations across multiple projects and geographies Develop ex-ante carbon calculations for afforestation and improved forest management projects Perform Investment Barrier Analyses (IBAs) by country and tree species Project Development Support Own Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) across multiple projects Provide technical inputs to PDD development, ensuring compliance with Verra and other standards Support strategic decision making on project roadmaps by conducting assessments of various standards and methodologies (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard, Isometric etc.) Technical Sales & Expansion Support pre-sales discovery and due diligence in early-stage discussions with enterprise clients to understand landholding characteristics, management objectives, and investment criteria Translate complex technical requirements into accessible insights that strengthen Arbonics’ credibility with client decision-makers Support Arbonics expansion into new markets via country- and project-specific implementation plans, tailored to local forestry conditions, landowner objectives, and regulatory frameworks Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with the verification, technology, and landowner operations teams to ensure consistency and accuracy in modelling and reporting Liaise with external partners, consultants, and VVBs where specialised expertise is required Education & Background Degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field (MSc or higher preferred) Proficiency in R, Python, or other programming languages Strong technical understanding of forest growth modelling, carbon accounting, and MRV frameworks Skills & Experience Experience in carbon modelling for afforestation/reforestation or IFM projects (familiarity with Verra methodologies, especially VM0047/VM0045, a strong plus) Solid analytical and quantitative skills; ability to build and interpret models Strong written and verbal communication skills (technical documentation & client-facing) Mindset Detail-oriented with a problem-solving approach Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with ambitious timelines Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders Opportunity to join an early-stage, high-growth startup Base salary + equity (if working full-time) Flexible work location, with travel to project sites as needed As much freedom and responsibility as you can handle Health, training, and development package
