Step into Your New Role Our North Carolina team is growing and looking to add a Geotechnical Engineer to our Greensboro or Raleigh office. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a variety of energy, commercial, transportation infrastructure, and construction projects. You will work with a talented team of professionals with sought after experience in subsurface investigations. geotechnical design, construction oversight, and trenchless technologies. The ideal candidate for this opportunity will be self-motivated and have 2 - 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience. In this position you will assist the Project Engineers / Project Managers and participate in execution of field investigation and construction oversight. You will also assist with review and compilation of geotechnical laboratory and field-testing results, perform geotechnical analyses and prepare geotechnical reports. The responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to the following:
Assist the Project Engineers / Project Managers and participate in field assignments including boring layout and utility clearance, coordination with drilling contractors, supervision of drill rig and geotechnical field investigations, logging of borings and test pits.
Inspection and construction oversight of grading, earthwork, retaining structures, trenchless installation, and foundation installation.
Assist with lab testing assignment and compilation of lab and field-testing results.
Perform geotechnical engineering analysis under the supervision of senior staff including soil/rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, shallow and deep foundation design, settlement, ground improvement, trenchless drill design, and geologic hazard evaluation.
Assist the Project Engineers / Managers and prepare geotechnical reports.
Assist the Project Managers in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks
Pro-actively troubleshoot and problem-solve with practical, client-focused solutions throughout the geotechnical and construction phases of projects The ideal candidate will have:
2 - 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience
Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks
Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
Desire to work onsite during geotechnical and construction phases of projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office - including Word, Excel, and Power Point preferred
Experience with software packages including LPile, SHAFT, gINT, GRL WEAP, GEO STUDIO, MicroStation, and OpenRoads preferred
An ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, supervisors, clients, and subcontractors
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineer with a MS Geotechnical Engineering strongly desired.
EIT preferred
