Description:

Main Purpose:
As the Head of Risk Technology you will drive our risk infrastructure servicing the market, credit and liquidity risk functions. Currently, we employ a combination of in-house and third-party systems, with development traditionally managed by IT. The strategy is shifting towards establishing a dedicated risk technology group, led by this role, to interact more effectively with group IT functions and collaborate closely with the business.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees in similar fields are a plus.

Strong technology background

  • Lead a team of quantitative developers coding C++, Python, R, Matlab
  • Work within a big data framework using Apache components (Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, Kafka etc)
  • Extensive familiarity with AWS ecosystem or other cloud providers (e.g., Google Cloud Platform)
  • Experience with containerization and git-ops for efficient software delivery

Management skills:

  • Demonstrable experience leading large-scale IT projects and global teams
  • Expertise in integrating various in-house components at different maturity stages.
  • Strong commercial acumen with diverse stakeholders including C-suite.
  • Proficient in Agile project and team management techniques.

Competencies:

  • Hands-on, resilient, effective in a highly entrepreneurial and fast-paced trading environment.
  • Proven ability to transform delivery cadence and implement engineering best practices to enhance software development processes

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 5-10 quantitative developers in building applications, databases, interfaces, reports and models.
  • Collaborate closely with quantitative teams and Heads of Risk for each vertical.
  • Develop a more sophisticated risk management technology offering that is closely aligned with business needs.
  • Build a best-in-class function to integrate internal and external data, creating a unique competitive edge and leveraging flexible data architectures.
