Description

How would you like to…

  • work only when it suits you?
  • earn over the Real Living Wage?*
  • gain valuable experience?
  • have fun while you earn?

It almost sounds too good to be true, but this is just what your role with Fun Science Cheltenham would be like. So if you’re confident, reliable and good with children, read on to learn how you can earn a competitive wage while blowing tiny minds!
Fun Science Cheltenham is seeking assistants to help deliver its holiday clubs for children aged 4-11. Get paid to launch lemonade rockets, make lightning, produce the perfect slime and more!
Working with groups of 5-10 children, you will ensure they are enjoying themselves and that all their needs are met. Help keep children engaged during sessions, assisting them with the tricky bits and wowing them with your “big-brained boffin knowhow”!
You don’t need to be an egghead, as everything you need to know will be taught to you. But you must be able to take in and repeat basic scientific principles and simple instructions, conversing confidently with both children and adults.
You will have an enthusiastic nature, which will be used to convey excitement to the children at Fun Science events. You should be organized and punctual, responding promptly to emails and texts from HQ, and arriving on time for events.
You must have demonstrable experience with children aged 4-11 and a basic understanding of safeguarding. A valid DBS certificate is essential (we will fund an application, if you don’t have one). Prior first aid training would be beneficial, but not essential.
Work is during school holidays (£13ph), with the possibility of weekend work leading science parties (£30ph) if performance is satisfactory. The role would be ideal for students, or for self-employed people wanting a second income.
So apply today to find out how you can earn very competitive pay while having fun and engaging young children in STEM!
*The Real Living Wage, as set by the Living Wage Foundation. See livingwage.org.uk for more info.
