The HR Benefits & Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient functioning of HR processes and systems. This position involves supporting HR operations, employee relations, employee benefits and unemployment claims, and enhancing HR service delivery while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software.
  • Strong understanding of HR policies, labor laws, and compliance regulations.
  • Familiarity with employee benefits programs and practices.
  • Experience with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment while fostering a supportive and constructive atmosphere with coworkers, leadership team and field staff.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in HR, benefits administration, or compliance.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Preferred: Associate’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds as needed.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel will not be required for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • HR Administration: Oversee employee record-keeping processes, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of employee data.
  • Policy Implementation: Assist HR Director in developing and enforcing HR policies and procedures in line with company objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Recruitment Support: Collaborate with the Senior Recruiter to streamline recruitment processes, including job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination.
  • Employee Benefits Management: Administer employee benefits and leave programs, including FMLA and Personal Leave, while assisting employees with inquiries. Track employee medical returns and collaborate with managers to facilitate the return of employees to duty.
  • Performance Management: Support HR Director with the implementation of performance appraisal systems and assist in tracking employee performance metrics.
  • Data Management: Support HR Director with HR databases and help prepare reports on HR metrics, turnover rates, and employee engagement.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations and assist with audits and reporting requirements. Order and maintain employee labor posters annually for Alamon sites to ensure compliance.
  • Contract Compliance: Support HR Director in helping managers with contractual obligations and regulations, monitor contract compliance, and facilitate communication between manager and leadership to address any compliance issues.
  • Employee Benefits Management: Administer employee benefits, including health insurance and FMLA and Personal Leave programs, while assisting employees with their benefit inquiries. Complete benefit surveys as needed.
  • Unemployment Claims and Employment Verification: Manage the unemployment claims process, including responding to inquiries and ensuring compliance with applicable laws. Prepare employment verification letters as needed.
  • Employee Conduct Management: Assist the HR Director in implementing disciplinary actions, participate in termination meetings, and ensure that all termination documentation, including state-specific forms are properly sent out and uploaded to the corrective action file.
  • Employee Terminations: Oversee employee terminations in Paycor, distribute state-specific documentation to affected employees, and review termination analytics.
  • Employee Information and Pay Changes: Work closely with Managers, Payroll, and the admin team to process employee change forms and other information related to pay changes in Paycor, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Upload completed employee documents to Paycor as required.
  • Employee Surveys: Send out employee exit surveys as needed to gather feedback and assess employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Backup Support: Provide backup support to the HR Education and Onboarding
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
