SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the manager with HR administrative duties. The candidate must possess excellent communication, both written and verbal, is well-organized and possesses excellent time-management skills. The Human Resources Coordinator will serve as a first point of contact for all recruitment related matters and will work within the policies and procedures established by the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Minimum Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, plus one (1) year of work-related experience.

OR

  • Secondary diploma and two (2) years of directly related experience.
  • Practical experience applying Canada Labour Code, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Act, and Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Practical experience of Human Resources Management System (HRMS) software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Exercise discretion, judgment, and high degree of confidentiality in handling information.
  • Must demonstrate high level of initiative, self-direction, and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and iCloud applications or willing to learn.
  • Must pass police record check.
  • Willingness to learn, accept change, and adapt to new ideas, business concepts, and cultures.
  • Flexible (extra hours may be required on occasion).

Responsibilities:

  • Assists HR department in carrying out a variety of human resources programs and procedures for all SNGRDC employees.
  • Assists the HR Recruiter with recruiting and the onboarding process
  • Administers and maintains the employee records.
  • Maintain Life Health and Pension remittances and reconciliations.
  • Performs routine filing, scanning, and archiving of records to ensure record retention compliance.
  • Prepares employment agreements and any other necessary documents necessary during the Team Member life cycle – I.e., Proof of Employment letters, annual Merit Increase letters, Letters of Separation etc.
  • Tracks Police Record Checks and ensures receipt or hard copy.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for all administrative related matters.
  • Work with Managers and Department Leads to produce and maintain a high level of Team Member Retention.
  • Prepares reports related to the Team Member lifecycle.
  • Attends job fairs on and off reserve.
  • Ensures all personnel documents are accurate and maintained.
  • Remains current with industry trends and employment legislation.
  • Assist in creating a positive culture that reflects the corporation values.
  • Assists Human Resources Department with planning corporate events as necessary.
  • Updates HR and leadership team on current employee count, terminations, new hires, assets, and similar.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information relating to the activities of SNGRDC.
  • Provides backup to HR team in their absence.
  • Assists with other HR matters as needed.
  • Perform other administrative duties as required.
