QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five (5) years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • A bachelor’s degree, and a certificate or diploma in Human Resources Management preferred
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Payroll designation
  • Two (2) years of general human resources experience is an asset.
  • Experience in working with time capturing software.
  • Able to analyze and interpret data
  • Knowledge of general accounting functions and principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to plan and organize multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible with the ability to adapt, respond quickly and manage change in a fast- paced environment.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This role is responsible for maintaining HR systems (ADP), bi-weekly payroll and benefits administration and providing support in the delivery of key HR initiatives and projects.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains HR systems including Workforce Now/ HRIS, employee notification and on-boarding process (new hires, exits, transfers, changes) and ensures information is up to date and accurate.
  • Administration and processing of payroll and interface with ADP. This includes maintaining employee personnel records, processing biweekly payroll activity, Record of Employment, vacation entitlement
  • Administer the employee group benefits plan.
  • Maintain the electronic and paper payroll files for all employees.
  • Responsible for selected month end reconciliations.
  • Responsible for doing Journal entries at month end related to payroll accrual, Hourly and salary vacation accruals.
  • Reporting and processing WSIB remittances.
  • Processing health & dental benefit remittances to our benefit providers.
  • Coordinate with IT to create network access to systems.
  • Assist with various types of letters and employment contracts.
  • Administers internal job posting announcements.
  • Assists in delivering HR services as required including job posting process and providing training and support to employees in use of online tools.
  • Answers questions related to HR policies/ benefits/ programs and provides employment verification letters when needed
  • Coordinates company events that assist in building and enhancing employee engagement. This includes Town Hall meetings, holiday celebrations, retirement events, CPL Scholarship Program, health and safety initiatives, employee service award program.
  • Responsible for vendor relationships including invoicing and annual vendor reviews
  • Manages My CPL HR intranet site and CPL campus bulletin boards for content and updates appropriately.
  • Administers and tracks HR employee support programs including but not limited to:, safety shoes, fitness subsidy, life event recognition, safety glasses etc
  • Supports audit requirements regarding collection of employee information for external customers/agencies.
  • Answer general HR-Related queries as needed and represent the department well Filing/archiving, organizing and general housekeeping in the department.
  • Other duties as assigned
