PLEASE NOTE: There are two ongoing positions available with varying FTE; one is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position and one is 0.8 FTE (32 hours/week). There is also the possibility of hiring an interim position as needs arise.

The HR Programs and Services unit manages the university’s benefits, medical leaves, work-life, HR compliance, learning and development, and recognition programs for all employees. The unit provides HR support services to the campus community through the HR Service Center, and is responsible for generating and distributing HR communications to all university employees. The unit develops and maintains HR programs in collaboration with campus stakeholders to support university leadership and institutional priorities.
HR Programs & Services is a unit within Human Resources in the Finance and Administration portfolio. Finance and Administration is a vibrant and varied portfolio serving all aspects of campus life. Our employees perform a wide range of functions including offering essential financial tools and support to the university’s many departments, providing key resources to employees, and keeping campus safe, clean, accessible and beautiful.
The Human Resources Service Center team supports and provides assistance to both internal and external customers including administrators, faculty, and staff. Acting as the first contact for employees with HR-related questions, the Service Center team maintains broad knowledge of HR functions and activities in order to properly direct inquiries. The team provides support to University HR staff, including assistance with a variety of confidential, transactional process and administrative needs.
The HR Specialist is a member of the Service Center team that provides excellent customer service to campus and to University HR staff. The HR Specialist will respond to inquiries regarding recruitment/employment system and process, procedures, regulations, policies, and programs. The position requires the ability to troubleshoot and assist campus with MyTrack (applicant tracking system) in order to determine the best approach to the solution and when to direct inquiries to others in Human Resources. This position reports to the HR Service Center Manager.
The person in this position will support the administrative needs of the Employee and Labor Relations unit in formulating, determining, and effectuating management policies with respect to collective bargaining, as well as managing HR policies and processes to insure their adherence to the respective collective bargaining agreements as defined in ORS 243.650. This includes but is not limited to providing assistance with researching, compiling of data, and report preparation in response to union proposals during collective bargaining. This position organizes and prepares documents and provides scheduling support for such confidential processes as layoffs, grievance hearings, bargaining strategy preparation, and the preparation of collective bargaining proposals.

- Two years of general clerical experience including typing, word processing or other generation of documents; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be proficient with computers and Microsoft Office software.
- One year of customer service experience.
- At least one year in a professional office in customer service and reception duties.
- HR-related experience.
- Experience with UO and/or HRIS (HR Information Systems).
