Our Winnipeg office is currently seeking a Legal Assistant in the area of Immigration Law. The successful candidate will work in a team environment with other legal assistants to support our Immigration lawyers.
Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly organized, has superior computer, proofreading and time management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and is able to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision, and thrive in a fast-paced, professional team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a recognized Legal Assistant program or equivalent experience
Previous working experience in the area of Immigration law is an asset
Excellent attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Responsibilities:
Providing support to Immigration lawyers on clients’ immigration applications and cases
Offering start-to-finish immigration application support to lawyers
Reviewing and organization of clients’ immigration file materials
Drafting correspondence
Preparing immigration materials
Coordinating service and filing of proceedings with various Tribunals, Forums and Courts
Document organization, including maintaining an electronic filing system
Handling of billing, accounts receivable collection, file opening/closing and related accounting matters
Calendar management for various Immigration lawyers
Provide additional administrative assistance and general office duties as assigned
