JOB SUMMARY

The Induction Program & Professional Learning Coordinator is responsible for the Induction Program and district-wide professional development support for GRPS. The coordinator develops the capacity and confidence of new teachers and mentors by enriching their knowledge about teaching and learning in the Grand Rapids Public Schools. The purpose is to support new teacher transition to the district, provide new teachers and mentors with tools for reflective practice in non-judgmental ways, and empower new teachers and mentors by sharing strategies and tools for the classroom. This position supports the GRPS Professional Learning mission and vision by ensuring all professional learning opportunities are rooted in best practice, and staff members have seamless access to high-quality professional development. This position reports to the Executive Director of Curriculum and Professional Learning.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in administration, teaching and curriculum, supervision, or education.
  • Five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Current Michigan Teacher Certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understand adult learning practices and effective implementation strategies.
    Knowledge of varying learning theories and appropriate application including strategies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated experience providing professional learning or training to staff.
