THE INCUMBENT WILL POSSESS A STRONG TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE BASE AND BACKGROUND, SPECIFICALLY:

  • Creating and maintaining technical support documentation for a wide variety of applications used by the Saskatchewan Health Authority;
  • Proven knowledge and experience using Java, JavaScript, Servlets, JSP, CSS and NodeJS;
  • Understanding of the concepts of MVC (Model-View-Controller) Pattern, JDBC (Java Database Connectivity), and RESTful web services;
  • Knowledge and experience working with Markup Languages such as XML, JSON, HTML;
  • Understanding/knowledge of web tier technologies, HL7, FHIR;
  • OS Windows\UNIX\Linux, real-time interfaces, and relational and document databases;
  • Experience with custom built applications and interfaces as well as COTS/Open Source applications is required;
  • Apply code changes to existing applications and interfaces;
  • Experience reviewing and understanding technical documentation and understanding of architecture and topologies is a must;
  • Proven experience and skills in effective communication, problem solving, documentation standards and a rigor for change management protocols and quality control are also required;
  • Experience in leading troubleshooting sessions to determine root causes of issues and to report out on problems within existing program code and data structures;
  • SAP Business Objects and Crystal reports experience would be an asset.
    The knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through the completion of a Degree in Computer Science or related area of study plus 3 years of experience working as an Application Support Analyst or similar in an integrated support environment. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

TECHNICAL

  • Ability to design, test, implement or adapt existing systems/applications in an integrated environment taking into account design alternatives, business requirements, system impacts and cost, resource and time constraints.
  • Ability to create and/or modify a sequence of computer instructions in order to compile, link, build and test computer executables that meet design requirements within established guidelines.
  • Relational and document database concepts, theories and principles.
  • Requirement analysis and solution design techniques.
  • Programming concepts, techniques and languages.
  • Design and code reviews; understanding of revision control and experienced with unit testing.
  • Service-level protocols, change management protocols, and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, Surgical and Tertiary Care Services, this role requires a candidate with a background in programming analysis and proven programming abilities as well as technical documentation and understanding of IT system architecture. The successful candidate will have a passion for patient focused health care and be committed to delivering high-quality software solutions.
As an Intermediate Application Support Analyst at eHealth Saskatchewan, you will be a dynamic, highly motivated, results-oriented individual who will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving technology issues and applications that have the potential to impact patient care. This is an integral role in our chain of care, and we are looking for a troubleshooter who takes pride in strong customer service. You will be responsible for applying code changes and developing/maintaining applications as well as providing support to multi-user, mission critical, clinical technology applications. In addition, this role will monitor production technology systems to ensure optimal performance and identify opportunities to improve effectiveness.
You will be part of a team supporting the surgical and tertiary service lines that provides application support to multi-user, mission critical technology applications. You will research and analyze issues with existing applications and/or transactions, impact of upgrades, new releases, patches etc. on individual and integrated applications, and influence implementation plans. In addition, this role may monitor production technology systems to ensure optimal performance and identify opportunities to improve effectiveness. This role will also require the write complex database queries that will support retrieving information from the applications supported.
You must be willing to participate in the on-call 24/7 support strategy. This requires a rotation of support analysts to be available to respond to priority emergency Priority 1 service disruptions after hours.
