QUALIFICATIONS:

• Forty-eight credit hours post-secondary and/or Para Certification.
• Job Coaching Certification through local organizations is a plus.
• Must have a valid Iowa Driver’s License and a driving record satisfactory to the District and the District’s insurance carrier.
• Able to support and collaborate well with others with a variety of abilities.
• Initiative to be a self-starter, flexible, and solution-focused.
• Experience in working with individuals with disabilities is recommended.
• Able to navigate active communication and positive relationships with others including effective oral presentation of information, as well as being responsive to high levels of data and verbal information
• Will represent the S.E. department as one of the outward information sources and will do so with high levels of professional and ethical integrity
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to problem solve effectively and work both independently and collaboratively as the demand of the tasks requires.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable
  REPORTS TO: Assigned Work Experience Plus Job Developer, Evaluated By the Coordinator of Transition Services and Special Programs and assigned building administrator.
  JOB GOALS: The Job Coach is responsible for providing skills training and supports to High School Transition students participating in onsite and community work experiences and job explorations. The Job Coach will be responsible for job-site monitoring and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) developed to meet the living, learning, and working needs of student participants. This position is designed to assist students with disabilities participating in developing the skills needed to be successful in their employment, academic, and independent living objectives.
  Other activities will include such things as - working collaboratively with student IEP roster teachers, WE+ Coordinators, IVRS Counselors, and parents/guardians to implement student employment plans, supporting students through professional job searches and attainment of competitive employment, provide on the job interventions and support, instructional coaching, positive reinforcement, and developing natural support systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical requirements vary by individual job assignment but require a minimum of the following physical requirements: Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 40 pounds on occasion
• Requires some stooping and kneeling
• Must be able to transition from different locations for 7-8 hours per day

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establish rapport and relationships with students to guide them in gathering information to help develop a personalized transition plan and portfolio.
• Regularly assesses and implements the fading of tiered supports.
• Ability to interact professionally with all individuals, especially those with disabilities.
• Participate in Job Coaching professional development and training.
• Creating/implementing the job task analysis after work sites have been identified.
• Transport and travel to job sites; solely responsible for the supervision and safety of students in community locations.
• Support in the transportation of students requiring specialized busing to job sites. Training provided upon hire.
• Assist in the implementation of students’ Individual Education Plans and support in the preparation and organization of instructional materials and equipment.
• Maintained as requested student documentation, Medicaid logs, and progress monitoring.
• When needed, implement the student’s individual behavior plan.
• Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.
