    The Northern Land Council (NLC) is seeking talented legal professionals to make a meaningful impact by providing expert advice and representation on vital issues affecting land, water, and Indigenous community rights across the top half of the Northern Territory.
Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll help to protect and advance the rights of Aboriginal people by supporting Traditional Owners and communities in the recognition, management and sustainable use of their lands and waters. Your work will contribute to delivering meaningful social, cultural and economic outcomes.

As part of a large, dynamic legal team, you’ll collaborate with professionals from diverse disciplines, including anthropologists and land management experts. The legal practice covers a broad range of areas including:

  • Native title claims;
  • Land rights claims under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 (Cth);
  • Negotiating agreements for mining, energy and renewable energy activities;
  • Negotiating agreements for other land uses, such as pastoralism, public infrastructure and Indigenous businesses.
  • Administrative and environmental advice and strategic litigation.

Whether you’re early in your career or an experienced legal practitioner, these roles offer diverse, hands-on experience and the opportunity to work in a unique legal and cultural environment.
